Put Down The Phone For Some Of Your Images – Professional Photography Still Matters

Yes, like you, I use my phone often for photography, but it's not the same as my professional gear with proper lighting to capture a truly amazing image of an individual.

I photographed a lady recently that made me remember that what I do as a professional photographer far exceeds the images that I take on a regular basis with a phone not only in quality but in emotion.

How many times have you taken an image with a phone of an individual that brought tears to their eyes when they saw the image on your phone? For me, that number is ZERO.

On the other hand, I have gotten some amazing emotions of individuals when they see the shots on the back of my camera. The lady from a very recent session particularly stands out and is what sparked this post.

During the session, I showed her the back of my camera which I know some photographers are against and had rather teether to a computer or have the client view at a later time. However, I have no problem showing the image on the back of my camera to a client. There are no set rules in photography. There are just opinions of what some think should and shouldn't be done in the industry.

There is one particular image that I took outside the studio that literally made the lady tear up/cry to the point that she had to try to control her emotions so that tears would not stream down her face and ruin her makeup. She even grabbed my hand and held it for a moment to get her composer. She was truly stunned by the image. It would be difficult, but not impossible, to get this same type of reaction with a phone image.

Keep in mind, when she walked through my studio door, I had never met her before. At the end of the session, that lasted nearly 2 hours, she hugged me.

Phone photography is nice and serves its purpose, but professional photography still matters in this digital age of most everyone carrying a camera (phone) with them on a daily basis. Consider stepping a way from the phone and letting a professional photographer capturing some truly amazing images of you.
